A Miracle-Making Holiday Lights Spectacular

There are only a few days left to see the 2022 Hathaway Holiday Lights at the Veazie Community School. Rick and Deanna Hathaway and their families host this beautiful and creative holiday display to pay it forward to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center and the team in the neonatal intensive care unit who lovingly cared for their twin sons in 2011.
Deanna gave birth to twins Alexander and Warren on June 6, 2011. The babies were delivered early because of Acute Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. This caused blood flow to one of the boys to almost stop. Sadly, Alexander passed away due to complications shortly after he was born. Warren, who is now 11, spent 51 days in the NICU. As Rick shares in their brochure, “Thanks to the amazing men and women of Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center NICU, we were able to bring our son home. Our family is forever grateful to the remarkable work these people do on a daily basis, and we will always be thankful.”
The Hathaways host the annual display to honor Alexander’s memory and to pay it forward. The display is free to walk through or watch from your car, and they welcome donations that they’ll give directly to the NICU. This year’s lights display will continue through Sunday, December 25. The lights are turned on from 4 to 9 pm daily at the Veazie Community School, located at 1040 School Street in Veazie.
