A Genuine Thank YOU to the Teams at Walmart

Margaret Mead’s words continue to ring true. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Our patients, their families, and the doctors and nurses who care for them are truly grateful for the teams at Walmart and Sam’s Club who are partnering with their customers to change kids’ health and change the future this summer! MacKenzie, who is our hospital ambassador, stopped by the Walmart in Calais on Sunday to say “thank you” to the associates.

MacKenzie knows firsthand how important those pennies, nickels, and dimes are to kids at the hospital. Her parents credit Dr. Jay Hagerty, one of our neonatologists, with saving their now teenage daughter’s life. Dr. Hagerty relies on the funds raised at partners, like Walmart, to make sure that he has the specialized equipment, programs, therapies, and advanced training for staff to provide the best care for our young patients. When you’re asked to donate $1 or round up your change, know that your donation really is helping kids locally. It’s saving lives.

There are two weeks remaining in the annual fundraising campaign. Make sure to say “YES,” the next time you’re at Walmart.
